Allowing scanning of text in a pdf email attachment

I get that this adds more cpu load, but the backup service that the company doing our software is using to report back status of the backup service.... is now a different company.. and they just attach a pdf with the report that says if the backups failed or not instead of putting it in the email body itself.

Would be nice if we could scan the contents of a pdf (not ocr, just text)
