I'm looking for a Chef orchestration layer solution and Ironfan is one of the candidates. By looking over the code and the examples in ironfan-homebase, I wasn't sure exactly what is the concept of orchestration adopted.

  1. Provisioning a cluster, where each server configuration is known and is executed independently and in parallel.
  2. Executing a cluster configuration, consisted of a series of steps to be executed in serial or in parallel, as defined. In other words, following a cluster configuration workflow.

I am under the impression that Ironfan adopts 1, is that right?

Thanks!
