A lot of times i get this message and sngrep don't start

Couldn't activate capture: can't create rx ring on packet socket: Cannot allocate memory

I've tried different pcap buffer size but doesn't works.

The server has free memory.

Hi @ibaques

That error is raised by libpcap so you will likely have the same problem with other capturing tools using the same library.

I haven't experienced this problem myself and a quick search hasn't provided any useful info, so I'm not sure how this can be fixed (or if the application has something it can configure to make libpcap work).

Is this error still happening? Does it also happen with other libpcap based tools like tcpdump, ngrep, etc?

Can you provide the sngrep version, command line used and the output of sngrep -D ?
What OS and enviroment are running sngrep?

Thanks!

Does this problem happen in other Centos 6 enviroments?

Have you tested with latest sngrep in a newer Centos version (CentOS 8 or 9)?

Regards
