Recent versions of HANA have introduced support for FOR JSON and FOR XML, similar to SQL Server:

Their syntax is more limited than SQL Server's. They essentially only support:

FOR JSON PATH
INCLUDE_NULL_VALUES: 'omitnull'='yes'
WITHOUT_ARRAY_WRAPPER: 'arraywrap'='no'

The FOR XML clause might be more equivalent, although again with different syntax.
