Thank you, I can reproduce. It looks like plugin manager does not return the jupyterlab/jupyterlab/extensions/manager.py Lines 221 to 226 in 54fe0d1
which suggests that the issue must be somewhere in: jupyterlab/jupyterlab/labapp.py Lines 855 to 874 in 54fe0d1

Description
When using the
jupyter labextension lock extension:plugin
command, the concerned extension is not locked and can still be enabled/disabled in the plugin manager.Reproduce
jupyter labextension disable @jupyterlab/application-extension:status
(this is an example, the behavior is the same for every extention)jupyter labextension lock @jupyterlab/application-extension:status
Expected behavior
The extension should be locked: an lock icon should be next to the checkbox, and the checkbox should be disabled.
