A first release of JupyterLab with nearly (ideally) zero regressions on significant features, reasonably stable public APIs, documentation for users and developers, and a proven path for the porting of existing Notebook extensions (even if that requires some code rewriting). At this point, JupyterLab should be ready for wide-spread use.
