I do use ksnip for teaching, capturing screen parts and annotating them "life". This works really well!
What I miss, however, is a quick way to change the "main color" or a tool, ideally across tools. It would be great to be able to define a keyboard shortcut to change the color of the main tools to e.g. red (e.g. lines, arrows, text, etc). I do understand that some tools have different color settings, but still being able to change the "primary" color quickly would be great. Now, for example, if I'd like to write some text, draw a straight line, and arrow, and some freehand line, all in the same color,I need to change the color 4 times, for each tool separately. And then when switching to another color, do everything again. This prevents a smooth workflow. This is aggravated by the fact that the color picker is not a permanently-visible palette, but pops up only after a click.
Alternatively, binding a number of "actions" to a key (and selecting a particular color for a particular tool would need to be such an action) would be a generic way to solve this.
