I noted that by default the snap installation of ksnip displayed UI menus, widgets, etc on my laptop way too small. Dragging the UI across to my 4k monitor, everything automatically gets bigger (about twice the size).

I am using ...
I noted that by default the snap installation of ksnip displayed UI menus, widgets, etc on my laptop way too small. Dragging the UI across to my 4k monitor, everything automatically gets bigger (about twice the size).
I also noted that any screen capture (see how to launch ksnip with an image from the clipboard) would appear too big, approximately twice the size of what the screen was actually displaying.
Solution
The resolution for these scaling issues is to add the following environment variables into ~/.profile or ~/.bash_profile
Now when I drag the ksnip UI across monitors, it does not resize, and screen shots appear the same size as what was captured
