What would you like to be added:
I propose we make go-git an optional dependency, per GoogleCloudPlatform/k8s-config-connector#1080 . I think we have seen that most controllers don't rely on go-git, and instead use the built-in channels. Controllers that do use go-git should be able to do so easily by opting-in.
Why is this needed:
