I'm a little confused about what filtering neighbors means.
I understood it as follows:
Incoming
a. Enabled: It determines which protocol or protocols the neighbor is speaking based on the number of packets received.
Only One Protocol: If the neighbor is speaking two protocols:
a. Enabled: Only one is stored thereby only information about one is retrievable.
b. Disabled: Information from both protocols is retrievable via lldpctl.
Outgoing
a. Enabled: Based on the number of packets received, it is determined which protocol or protocols the neighbor is speaking. Only this protocol is then spoken to the neighbor. An exception to this is the repetition of protocol flags such as -l or -ccc.
Only One Protocol: If the neighbor speaks two protocols:
a. Enabled: Only information about one protocol is sent.
b. Disabled: Information about both protocols is sent.
Once the question arises whether I have understood it correctly up to here?
Furthermore I have the question, what does the filter "Only one neighbor" mean? I did not find anything in the man pages. Does that mean that only one neighbor is allowed on the interface? How are the outgoing and incoming packets handled?
