Type of parameter object is string in function baseGet(object, path)

We have an issue via FormIO, that this function get parameter object that its type is string and also the path, for example:

baseGet('Cardiff', 'search')

In this case we get an empty function like function search() { [native code] } and this going forward throws an error.
It looks missing a condition that check the typeof object in line 18:

while (typeof object == 'object' && object != null && index < length) {
