Array _id and id does not exist on type #51

I'm getting Property '_id' does not exist on type (or Property 'id' does not exist on type) on an array

blah: Type.array().of({
etc: Type.string()
})

blah._id => no property.

All arrays in mongoose by default have _id. Am I doing something wrong?
