Focusing in a list of tabs by typing portions of title

I have the tab numbers on, but often a tab is not displayed because the number of tabs has overshot the width of monitor so that only the last 20 or so are displayed, or the titles are truncated.

What I'd like to be able to do is press 'o' or 't' and when i type in a portion of a tab name and hit the tab key a list of tabs comes up that match my search.

There doesn't seem to be anytime when a list of tabs and their windows comes up.

dmenu can restrict what it displays based on what you've typed.
Look at #889 (and maybe #1032).
