Some small tweaks to 40.0.0 for release:

This is a server-only release. It removes all dynamic portions of the server, replaces a few API endpoints with null implementations, and responds with 410 Gone to all image requests.

  • Put in an explicit route for images, and remove pages. We don't want any user-visible pages besides the homepage. This removes some related routes.
  • Also this makes image requests return a 410 Gone response so we are more explicit that they weren't lost, but instead everything is discontinued. 9c3dc51
  • Server-removal: remove all dynamic portions of the server. This replaces a few endpoints with null implementations, so that a client can submit events or attempt login and receive a null but valid result. 4d731ea
  • Make the homepage entirely static. This removes any dynamic properties, makes the homepage no longer login-aware, and does no React rendering on the client. Only the most minimal tour-related code is included the the homepage-tour.js file. This does not remove the old now-unused code. a87cd0e

  • Migrate Screenshots to pure WebExtension (#4864)* The addons system, not the Screenshots addon, will be responsible for detecting changes to the 'extensions.screenshots.disabled' pref, and starting up or shutting down the Screenshots webextension when changes occur (bug 1488971).
    • The LibraryButton code has been moved from bootstrap.js into the embedded API. We'll be able to remove this code as soon as Library menu items can be declared from the WebExtension manifest (bug 1366389).
