The searched for text is extracted and placed inside a new span with the classes 'highlight selected appended'. However, with my code, the text isn't properly extracted and enclosed in a new span, which hampers the search functionality from searching across lines.
Is there an option that I am missing here, or is there anybody that came across this issue before that can further assist me?

Hi, when trying to search with ctrl + f in any browser, I am not able to search across multiple lines, while my text layer is working.
As the demo shows (https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html):
