Custom login using credentials (Next Auth v5), page redirects BUT the uri DOES NOT change

Using similar steps laid out by Nextjs for their credentials authentication I am able to log in with some amount of redirection. While elements on the page visually change the URI does not. So for example /dashboard lives behind a login and it contains a button to log out. After logging in I see the button but I cannot interact with it. The URI remains the same as the login page. What am I missing in order for the URI to change on login?

The solution that appears to work for me is to update the formData with the redirect path.
