I think users would benefit from a little tutorial on how to use this feature.
As a non-coder, I struggle to understand whether I need to upload a .json file first to link it to or else...

Beyond that, it shows up in public links - even, in this case, a link to a file-drop folder 😢 that was very confusing.

I once wrote this https://github.com/nextcloud/maps/#my-maps,
You don't need to create any file yourself, you can just use the copy link to map action and open that link. Or create the app from the maps app.

@jospoortvliet: I double checked, the map is not showing any files for file drop links. What remains is a favorite drop map. I create #1081, which disables this and hides the button. There we can discuss whether to disable or keep this feature.
