As a Data Consumer I want the side bar open per default and with more information about the dataset, to be warned about the options I have in the sidebar. #526

By using the data browser I have seen that the side bar in the table view is now quite hidden. To notify the user about the side bar I thought we could:

  • keep the side bar opened per default at the first access the user does;
  • if the user closes the side bar, save the information in a cookie and avout to open it the next time the user access a table view
  • increase the visibility of the side bar, once the side bar is closed (Maybe adding a button that opens the side bar also on the top).

In the side byr we propose also to add an About tab with the information about the Dataset that are displayed in the Dataset Description page (e.g. https://databrowser.opendatahub.com/dataset-overview/7c8f490d-7b54-4a88-801f-f7669f5aaed9)

Warning If we do so, we have to find a way to warn the user about this functionality! Maybe a tooltip or something similar could be useful. Maybe we could consider something similar what Githug (screenshot belo) or google drive with the new features do.

The cookie banner should be put in the middle down of the screen, to avoid hiding funtionalities. @sseppi will create a dedicated issue
