I am currently investigating approaches to trace function calls, arguments, return values, lines numbers in context of a test and was wondering if that's possible with opentelemetry. I have been looking into it but it's quite complex and hard to get answers to this.
OpenTelemetry is primarily designed for distributed tracing in microservices. I was planing on using it for local instrumentation within a single process, such as in the case of testing.
However, it's hard to navigate how to do this in the documentation since it feels like it focuses primarily on distributed tracing and not those metrics that I am searching for.
Anyone here who can tell me if OpenTelemetry can help me or if I should start looking at other tracers?
