need help starting the development server on port localhost:8181

i kind of need help to start the dev server. just pointing to the doc about the starting of the server is also ok.
actually i am new in the realm of software development . so i need a bit of help.
i have not done any kind of projects such as this that's why i am needing so much of help.

and I would suggest use the docker setup as its the easiset one to work with.

Please note that for windows users we require them to run the commands in wsl2 https://github.com/oppia/oppia/wiki/Installing-Oppia-using-Docker#pre-requisites-for-setting-up-the-development-server

Here you should be using the Makefile in the root oppia directory by running make build, from the screenshot it seems that you are using docker build instead.

the problem persists
i used make build command yet i get this output

You should be in the directory that oppia is in so like opensource/oppia and then run make build, it looks like you are in the root directory (~).

Then, I should move the oppia directory, which is currently in the c drive, inside the wsl2 Linux directory right?

i just finished the creation of dev server

thank you to all who have helped me, especially @jnvtnguyen.

however now when i re open vs code the entire make run-devserver creates the container again. is it supposed to do so?

@ghost-2362003 It's normal it do take time because it needs to start multiple containers, build the code, and run the dev-server.

does it take too long? like 10+ minutes

@ghost-2362003 does your system lags when the server is running? and when you make any change are able to see that quickly? in like 1-2 refresh.
