That might be a viable option, however, the key idea behind PGTimestamp is that it allows conveying the message of "I know the target type is zone-less timestamp, so please send zone-less timestamp even in binary form". Currently, the driver sends timestamps in text form exactly for the reason that it does not know which type should the bind have (date, time, timestamp with or without timezone), and the current backend ties "binary transfer" to "exact datatype" |
