Inclusive language suggestion: rename default branch to "main" across Pino's repos #1918

I would like to suggest an organization-wide initiative to change the default branch name from "master" to "main" across all @pinojs repositories. A few of the existing repositories are already using main, but of the 36 public source repos, 30 use master.

This initiative is in line with the broader tech community's movement towards more inclusive language. The term "master" has historical connotations that are insensitive (even hostile), and by shifting to "main," we can take a simple yet significant step towards making our projects more welcoming and inclusive. In 2020, GitHub itself started using "main" as the default branch name for new repositories to support this move towards inclusivity.

Here's a good read on the subject.

Changing the default branch name in existing repositories is straightforward, and GitHub provides comprehensive guidance to do so without affecting current workflows. More information on this process can be found here: https://github.com/github/renaming

Implementing this change across all Pino's repositories, would demonstrate commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. I understand this is a significant change and am more than willing to assist or contribute to the effort required for a smooth transition.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I believe it's a small step that can make a big difference in how welcoming and inclusive Pino, Node.js and the technology community at large can be.

I'm more than happy to rename the "pino" repository for all the reasons you mentioned, but frankly we do not have the time to do all this work for all the repos.

Will do the pino repository when I get the chance.

I appreciate that @mcollina. I understand it can be a big lift to do so many repos. If you'd find it helpful, I'd be happy to raise PRs to update references to the master branch throughout as many of them as I can get to.

Done on pino itself. Let's see how many things break.
