We're excited to be accepted as a mentoring organization for GSoC 2024!
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a program designed to bring new, excited contributors into open source communities, with the hope that they will continue to contribute to open source communities long after their GSoC program ends.
Contributor (mentee) candidates
We encourage contributors to read our GSoC guidelines and explore project ideas.
Between now and March 18, potential GSoC contributors can discuss application ideas in our communication channels, such as github issues, slack or our contributor office hours.
After March 18, you need to send an application with your proposal on GSoC platform.
Important Upcoming Dates
For transparency here are all the dates that are coming up.
For the full timeline, please see https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline,
Now - March 18: GSoC contributors should reach out in our communication channels to ask questions about our proposals list. Mentors will try to answer as many questions as possible, but please keep in mind that our time is limited, always assuming best intentions throughout the period.
March 18 - April 2 18:00 UTC: GSoC contributors will submit their proposals through the program website.
April 2 - 23: The Prometheus-Operator team members will review all submitted GSoC Contributor proposals and consider how many to want to select and how many we can handle (how many we have committed mentors for). Decide on the ranking of the GSoC Contributor slots. At least 1 mentor must be assigned to each project before it can be selected.
April 24 18:00 UTC: Deadline to submit ranked slot requests.
April 24 - May 1: Google Program Admins review and assign org slots
May 1 - 26: Community Bonding Period | GSoC contributors get to know mentors, read documentation, get up to speed to begin working on their projects
May 27: Coding begins
Full timeline can be seen at the GSoC website.
