Desired Behaviour (for feature requests only)

The ability to set the proxy details in the "Settings" so that Data Curator can open datapackages from URL. The "Open from URL..." functions operate correctly when Data Curator has direct access to the internet, however when operated from behind a proxy, proxy details are required to gain access to the Internet.
Suggested settings

  • Proxy type - None [default], Automatic or Manual
  • If "Manual", need to set proxy host, port and user credentials [optional] (domain, username and password)

Current Behaviour (for problems)

Error occurs when attempting to Open datapackage zip or json from URL

Expected Behaviour

Datapackage is opened successfully

Steps to Reproduce

From behind a secure proxy...

  1. Open Data Curator using the icon
  2. File -> Open Data package -> json from URL
  3. Enter https://raw.githubusercontent.com/frictionlessdata/example-data-packages/master/countries-and-currencies/datapackage.json in text field
  4. Click "Open URL"
  5. "Unable to load Data Package" error

Your Environment

Include details about the environment you experienced the problem - this will help us fix the bug quicker.

  • Data Curator version: 1.0.0
  • Operating System and version: Windows 10 1803

We'd love to use DataCurator here at BASF, but this issue prevents this, unfortunately. Any fix would be warmly welcomed!

Hi @hoffch
Always happy to hear when Data Curator is noticed :)
As you may have gathered, unfortunately this issue didn't make it into any of the sponsor-approved releases to date. With more funding, I'll try to get this issue raised again. Ideally we'd first introduce opening Data package JSON and Importing Package Properties JSON from local file, in addition to the exisiting open from URL.
Again, just in case you haven't picked up on it, as a workaround, you can still download the data package URLs, outside of Data Curator, and then import the Data Package as zip file from your local.
