How keep track of dynamically loaded components in grid items after layout change?

Simple use case. I create a few grid items, and specify which component is loaded where. So like:

  "0": "barchart",
  "1": "graph"
}

Then I move the graph item to be first and save it to the backend. Reload the page, and now it loads barchart into the first item. The layout item object does not allow storage for any additional data. How can I keep a reference of which grid items my components should be loaded?

Closing this. I got confused because I thought the i property of the grid item got changed on layout change. It stays the same, so it can be used as the reference.
