I believe the ./mvnw wrapper:wrapper command is failing because it cannot find the Parent POM. The configuration provides the required Nexus URL for Maven builds, so I'm not sure why it cannot find the Parent POM. The relevant log entries are below. The error is at the bottom of the log entry.

So your repo itself doesn't contain the registry settings apart from in renovate config?

No, but I could definitely try that. Would I put my settings.xml in the ubuntu home directory /home/ubuntu/.m2?

Do you know why the "Maven" scans only need the registryUrls defined in the config.js file, but the "Maven Wrapper" cannot make use of that property and needs the settings.xml file instead?

Because Renovate doesn't need to call "mvn" for updating pom.xml

That is really interesting, I guess I just assumed there was a "mvn" run in there somewhere. Although that explains why mvn --version didn't work when I tried it in the Renovate container, hahahah.
