Update Gemfile version of Ruby ONLY

We are using dependabot, and stumbled upon renovate, which seems really sweet! I'd like to get renovate configured to only modify our top level language dependencies, primary example being ruby. Preferably, the config would allow for:

• One PR for all: dockerfile image update, circle CI image update, .ruby-version file update, and Gemfile ruby version update
• exclude all other gems from the bundler manager
• ignore major ruby releases

Issues I'm running into:

• PRs for the ruby update: currently down to two PRs but would like for there to be only one
• ignoring other gems from bundler doesn't seem to work

Any examples for these available? Thanks!

When you get two PRs when you prefer one, what are the two branch names?

I think this would work, except docker ignores any value provided and enforces the docker- prefix. That might be a bug.

I first tried "" and thought there might be a falsey issue since "" in JS is falsey, so I tried a consistent prefix and docker just ignored my setting. Here's the updated config and job log.

additionalBranchPrefix must be used in a package rule, otherwise it's overwritten by docker datasource

This worked... now down to one branch for updating docker, circleci and .ruby-version... is there any way to update the ruby version in Gemfile (bundler manager) and subsequently the lockfile?

I'm not sure if we extract/update the version in Gemfile or not. I think possibly we read it for deciding which version of Bundler to run, but we don't try updating it. You can set up a reproduction repo with a basic Gemfile/Gemfile.lock and see what the list of extracted dependencies is.

Thanks for the help @rarkins! The ruby version in the Gemfile (bundler manager) doesn't appear to listed in the dependencies. If this is the only manual aspect of updates we have to do, then so be it.
