Off-by-one errors can be mistaken for bit-flips

I noticed a small issue with bit-flip detection. Whenever we have a one-past-the-end access to a buffer it can often be mistaken for a bit-flip. We might consider ignoring bit-flips if we detect them in the 16-64 bytes right after a valid mapping.
