I can help you write some text for *nix systems and a NULL for spyware based OS like MacOS and Windows as I do not support any such things, and seriously believes they are out of reach, but as macOS is a unix system....

Another serious thing you should keep in mind, is that you should NOT encourage to be using the /ets/hosts/ (StevenBlack/hosts#1057 (comment)) file for storing blacklists data, but encourage to use a local recursor (PowerDNS|Unbound) or Firewall like the modern NFTables.

My best help can be in the RPZ/Recursor (StevenBlack/hosts#1057 (comment)) part of this, and should be references to optimal sources regarding these things.
