looking at the cmake this wont compile in windows.

Before diving in further, do you have pointers of what needs to be platform specfic.
I guess "sys/socket.h" needs an winsock include.

This shouldn't be that much of an deal, but since this has not been done in this, i want to make sure it is feasible.
