Releasing to a channel without a branch

We have a trunk-based workflow, and like the idea that a merge to main can trigger a release.

However, sometimes we want to create prereleases manually, but we don't see a way to do that with semantic-release. Maybe we're missing something?

We'd like to be able to:

• Release a next-type release on merge to main.
• Release a latest release on a manual trigger (GitHub action).
