Hm, this PR is showing as red in GitHub, but there's no failure listed in Travis. I'd like to fix the build but I'm not sure what's wrong. |

I restarted the build, it failed at first but it seems to have been a glitch. All good ;) |

We're migrating some old repositories that had been using a
developbranch, andsemantic-release@betafailed out of the box because we didn't have amasterbranch.This PR adds a bit more detail to the error message and documentation to help the next person in my shoes.
