Special character encodings search

I have a modal as below with utf8_general_ci

and I use the following querry to search the name of the product OR GTIN number of the product

  offset,
  limit,
  where: {
    [Op.or]: [
      {
        name: {
          [Op.and]: `%${keyWord}%`,
        },
      },
      {
        gtin: {
          [Op.and]: `%${keyWord}%`,
        },
      },
    ],
  },
});

the issue I am wondering is that when I use gâr keyWord, it returns the Sugar in the results which I do not need to listed in search results. Further if I search only letter â, the results returns words contain letter "a" without having "â". How to solve this search issue?

This issue is not specific to sequelize but your usage of the 'utf8_general_ci' collation which strips this. Try 'utf8_bin' instead
