Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

It is unexpected and unwanted behaviour for the audio message to stop playing when switching apps -> I want to listen to the message whilst using my browser. (Same goes for recording messages by the way, but that's another issue and I somewhat understand if this were intentional)

I'll gladly contribute a fix to the issue if you confirm that it's somewhat beginner friendly in the scope of this repository.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Play a voice message in any chat
  2. Switch apps via command/ win + Tab

-> The message will pause

Expected result

The message should continue playing

Actual result

The message will pause
