Since 4e15051 (2009) the $instancename parameter to Configuration::getInstance() is deprecated with no clear course of action.

Either we should remove it now after being deprecated for so long, or just remove the notice that it's deprecated.

I think we can remove it and reduce the static property to a single object instead of an array. Unless anyone can see potential use-cases for this?
