The description for Blockstack is currently:

Blockstack is a new decentralized internet where users control their data and apps run without remote servers.

So to start with that, I don't like using the term "internet" that much. It's about what people connect with that, and because it's such an abstract term (that could mean literally anything) it's hard to not confuse people with it. You can recognize the internet as place where:

  • you have all the freedom you'd like to have (which is Blockstack)
  • or where the big players own your data (which is Blockstack clearly not)

You can extend that list way more. The biggest point is that different user groups recognize the internet differently. A developer thinks "Ah, I can build great apps with that" but an user probably "I use the internet daily, how can I use Blockstack now?"

I think the word "internet" implies for normal users that they can use Blockstack like everything they already know, but that comes not before there are enough apps to provide such functionality.

I'd like to suggest a term that's less confusing: "Blockstack is a software stack that powers you to [...]". You used that wording some time ago, but then went over to "a decentralized internet" instead.
(For developers you could still advertise with "[...] software stack that allows you to build a new internet where [...]".)

Alternatively there's the word platform (which is equally abstract as internet) but connects better to the expectations. But though, nobody really knows what exactly a platform is or isn't.

See messaging.md for the current wording.
