Just curious: I'm aware that there's no "global official standard" for viewport breakpoints, but being Chrome the most rangely used browser, I wonder why Tailwind wouldn't adopt its breakpoints, which seem to make more sense than TW's defaults.
Tailwind's breakpoints:
sm 640px
md 768px
lg 1024px
xl 1280px
2xl 1536px
Chrome:
mobile-s: 320px
mobile-m: 375px
mobile-l: 425px
tablet": 768px
laptop: 1024px
laptop-l: 1440px
4k: 2560px
Lately, one of the first things I do when starting a new project with Tailwind, is extending screens to:
screens: {
ms: '320px', // mobile S
mm: '375px', // mobile M
ml: '425px', // mobile L
tab: '768px', // tablet
lt: '1024px', // laptop
ltl: '1440px', // laptop L
dt: '1920px', // desktop <--- I actually miss this pretty standard one in Chrome
'4k': '2560px' // 4k
},
To me, it looks very handy having the same breakpoints as Chrome, which might be the most widely used for development. Also, I never understood that in TW there's nothing under 640 (, and that 2xl is smaller than 1920px, which has been the standard for more than a decade now.
I guess there must be a reason for this choice, but I can't help but feeling it "old" somehow.
Other than that, I love Tailwind to death. I'm just curious about this :)
