Steps to reproduce

1. Turn on VPN (Wireguard, Mullvad)
2. Attempt to send or receive mails

Expected behavior

Mails are sent or received regardless of VPN status.

Actual behavior

Mails are not sent or received until the VPN is turned off.

Note - this happens with multiple email accounts, all of which function normally in other email apps with the VPN on i.e. it is not the email provider blocking the VPN.

Appears to have resolved itself by reducing the amount of push and poll.
