override basePath where commands for git-style sub-commands are fetched from

Is there a way there I can define a custom basePath for where commander will look for binaries for git-style sub-commands?

Right now it takes the executable file base path and then adds -${command name}

This is an area we intend to improve, and #944 collects together some of the related issues (including this one).
