I would like to suggest an update to the TOML logo.
The current one does not reflect well all the care given to the language IMO.
Inverted and uncropped versions are also lacking now (favicon, avatar).

I worked on 2 (obvious!) concepts that I would be happy to share here.
Let me know if you would like to consider a logo update.

Although I'm in no rush to change the logo, if you have improvements in mind, you could make a good case for changes. You mentioned some useful additions.

Obvious? Obvious is good!

OK great. Let me prepare the proposal.

I am glad to share two concepts.
I propose to use the logotype (TOML) as the main logo and to reserve the usage of the logomark (T) to icon and favicon. This would increase visibility and clarity.

concept 1
toml-c1

concept 2
toml-c2

Please check the PDF file for more detail (tagline, monochrome, visualization, etc):

I hope this can help!

IMHO the 2nd concept is solid, and it really pops! Very impressive! It does capture the spirit of obviousness and minimalism succinctly, and the bold font and alignment gives it a sturdy character. I love this one. Recommending it for adoption.

The 1st concept is good, but since I don't know the poster tradition that you cite, the imagery seems just a little off to me. Why does the T connect to the bracket? What's the bar at the bottom for?

The phrase "Config files for humans" took me by surprise in a good way. It highlights an evolving aspect of the standard that shows how so many features were added and how future features may come. It's a goal of ours.

@eksortso @marzer Great, I am glad that concept 2 works for you.

You're probably right about concept 1, @eksortso. The goal was to make it timeless, clean, with a personality; however, it may not make too much sense for TOML.

@1984logo Thank you for your concepts. I, for one, support its adoption.

@xpe thx!
@eksortso Do you have any update on this?

@1984logo I'm not a project lead, and anyway I've been inactive for a couple different reasons. It would be good to hear from @mojombo or @pradyunsg on this though.

Hiya! It's taken me a while to come around to this: the second concept looks great!

If you could put source files and SVGs up somewhere and license them under CC BY-SA 4.0 license or something similar, that'd be great! A PR would be welcome as well! :)

Sure! Let me get the files ready. I might need some time so let me know if you're in a hurry.

@pradyunsg Sorry for the delay. I made a PR with the new logos. Please check! #909
