There seems to have been no activity anymore since May 2019. Lots of Pull Requests and issues are open and have no activity.

It kinda is. I wrote it for a simple command line application some years ago and to this day, I don't really understand how it has made its way to where it is now (probably the use in virtualenv). So I'm also hesitant to make changes with possible regressions, given that I can only test and develop under Linux.

I'm not up-to-date with the corresponding OS APIs and don't have the capabilities (and willingness) to test under any other system than Linux and I'm too afraid to break something under other OSes. There are some good pull requests waiting to be merged, which seem too work fine on my machine. Or feature requests which would be simple to implement and very convenient (like e.g. issue #58).

I don't know who I can hand it over. I thought about asking the venv people, because it is used there. I'll think about what to do with this project in the next days.

Thank you for the update @benediktschmitt ! I'd be happy to co-maintain this project for a while, if you'd like some help.

Perhaps users could help you with setting up the GH Actions CI for the platforms they are concerned about?

I use this on some projects, so I would be interested in helping out.

Hi, I'm the virtualenv maintainer/author, and as virtualenv is heavily dependent on this we would likely be ok to adopt it 😊 so ping me if you want to transfer over.

Thank you all for offering to support the project!

@gaborbernat that would be great, thank you. Shall I transfer the gh repository to you or @pypa? I'll add you as an owner to the pypi project after the ownership transfer. Would that be ok with you?

Feel free to write me a mail, if you need more information.

You'd have to do first my personal account. The transfership within PyPA would require a ballot for acceptance, 😬 and I'm not sure this is a packaging project per se. Though I'd be ok to accept it under the tox-dev umbrella instead?

That's both ok for me. I'll kick off the transfer to you and then you can decide :)

@matthiasdiener and @FFY00 I've added you as maintainers for this project (meaning I'm giving you rights to merge 😊)

@benediktschmitt can you please give me push rights here https://pypi.org/user/gaborbernat/ 😊 thanks!

@benediktschmitt thanks, one final hurdle is readthedocs access, thanks!

I'm really sorry for the delay 😓 I added you to readthedocs and also changed your role status on PyPi to owner.
Thank you for taking over the project and all your work! I'm really glad it is in good hands.

I've moved the documentation in the meantime to https://py-filelock.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
