[no-unnecessary-type-assertion] False positive with non-null-assertion #1066

Expected Result
No errors occur.

Actual Result

3:1  error  This assertion is unnecessary since it does not change the type of the expression  @typescript-eslint/no-unnecessary-type-assertion

Additional Info
Removing the ! will cause tsc --strict to error with the following message:

test.ts(3,1): error TS2454: Variable 'resolve' is used before being assigned.

I am unable to repro this against master.

@bradzacher Are you saying this was fixed, or that you were never able to reproduce the issue.

I ran the example code as a test against master, and it did not repro.

So either it is fixed in master, or the code does not repro the issue.

I am still seeing this on my end after updating to 2.7.0 on my current project. Maybe it has to do with tsconfigs? Specifically, the strict option? Here‘s my tsconfig. Don’t really got the time to reproduce the bug in this project right now, and I don’t mind if we leave this issue closed til I or someone else can produce a reliable reproduction.
