OS: Ubuntu 18.10
Typora version: 0.9.60

Screenshot is attached below. EDIT: Actually, there is a faint outline of the words, but I'm not sure if this was intended.

@fanxilsa fanxilsa changed the title Thanks, that fixed it. However, the other problem still persists. The menu doesn't appear at all unless I hover my cursor above it. Screenshot is attached below. @abnerlee I have the issue on Typora but not on Atom, so it appears to be linked to typora itself...

Totally same problem on Manjaro 18.01.
There is another bug; after you typed some words in a new opened typora window, the window cannot be closed and cannot be found in system monitor unless you save the file.

I think you should update from upstream dependency. Thank you!

I have the same problem in Ubuntu 18.10.
Works fine in elementary OS 5.0 Juno.

I confirm this in Ubuntu 18.04. I'm using the Ubuntu community-theme for my desktop.

Well, this issue has been open about 2 months.
The bug has actually been fixed by electron group, but not yet added to any stable release yet, at least not in the current newest release electron 3.0.10-1.
see #15194.

It's actually an issue with the way the application interacts with the system theme. Some dark themes on Linux will cause Electron based applications to color the menu bar black on dark grey or worse, black on black.
Even Atom has this visual glitch.

In light themes, it is colored like this.

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 where most applications use white/light grey text and dark grey background on the menu bar for dark themes.
So it's definitely a GUI problem.
