Welcome to the WhalePress Wiki!

WhalePress is a complete (yet easily hackable) Docker Compose based local development environment tailored for WordPress. This wiki serves as a guide to help you set up and use WhalePress efficiently.

The purpose of the project is to encourage a more standardised way of developing WordPress websites, while remaining flexible and developer friendly. This is particularly relevant where multiple developers are building many sites - a common structure and approach reduces onboarding time and helps developers pick up and navigate existing projects.

Installation is straightforward and you should be up and running in the time it takes for the images to download - use that time to read through this Wiki, as there are several built in tools to make your life easier during development, such as Xdebug, development specific plugins, VS Code setting examples and so on.
