Could I install this framework on common ubtuntu?

Yes, you can.

In common Ubuntu or Debian OS, you can install these packages:

  • libbiometric0, biometric-auth (Framework and service)
  • biometric-driver-community-multidevice (Driver)
  • biometric-utils (Command line client)
  • ukui-biometric-manager (GUI client)
  • libpam-biometric (PAM module)

I've installed on Ubuntu 19.04, and the UI works just fine. I'll try to plug our device into this framework, thank you for your help!

We are writing the developer manual and expect it to be completed by the end of this year

Hello. I see this ticket open, probably leftover and may be closed.
Let me use it, though, to ask a user level question, which I could not understand from the main page: what is this used for, compared to simple fprintd libpam-fprintd && fprintd-enroll ? For a user that just wants to autthenticate login in Ubuntu?
