Hello,

the following stream with codec avc1.4d0028 shows a black screen when using HLSJS and Edge browser. https://svs.itworkscdn.net/rudawlive/rudawlive.smil/playlist.m3u8 same applies to samsung tv browser.

i have tried the same with latest version same issue but if i click on quality levels and change it from highest bitrate to a lower one than click back on the highest the image shows instead of the black all while using Edge browser.

thank you

Hi @sdahdaah,

Please include which version(s) of Edge and Windows you are seeing this in. Hardware information would also be useful. This goes for Samsung TV as well as there are huge differences between recent Chromium based models and the WebKit ones released before 2018.

I also need the sequence of level changes that lead to the issue. Does video go black once playback of the 1080p avc1.4d0028 begins after playing any other level or only the 720p/360p/240p rendition?

Also if you start playback on this codec/ level or only play the one rendition is it OK (.../playlist_1080p.m3u8) ?

I haven't tried on real hardware yet, but I just popped the stream into Edge 15 on Windows 10 in Browserstack, and could not reproduce the issue.

I am happy to re-open and do some triaging on this issue once you fill out the bug report template. The stream link is helpful, but we need a complete bug report before attempting to reproduce the issue. Thanks!

This is a duplicate of #2498. It's not an issue with the codec. It's a bug in IE11 where video doesn't render when you seek to an empty point in the media timeline and then buffer media over it. Seeking in the buffer causes video to render again so we may be able to provide a workaround for this.
