Add paler background to any code blocks using syntax highlighting.

So it should already do this . Are you using Markdown GFM? In the bottom right

These are my installed MD packages (prolly don't even use most of them), but all I have as options for syntax (bottom right) is Markdown or Multimarkdown...?

Markdown GFM is a syntax that comes with the package MarkdownEditing (and you have that). I would dig around in your setting for that package. I quickly looked, but I can't find an obvious setting that would turn off this syntax. Maybe if you have "ignored_packages": [..., "Markdown GFM"] in your ST user settings?

Also, @wesbos, can it not work with the built in markdown syntax as well?
