The 24px margin on the bottom of body copy in content cards

I've noticed that there is a 24px margin at the bottom of the content card container beneath the body copy. Is there a reason for this?

I believe that this margin is taking up too much white space. This is evident on the homepage, which could be made shorter if we were to remove the bottom margin amount completely or reduce it to 8px.
