Detailed description

file cannot be extracted to CSV or XML. Only the skeleton is seen in the files produced, without any data

same. The command:

./signal-back_darwin_amd64 format -f XML -o backup.xml -P pass.txt ./signal-2022-06-23-16-28-54.backup

just creates an empty XML file (133 bytes).

But: The "extract" command created a folder and stored lots of images.

Signal version was 5.40.4.1

I have the exact same issue. Has anyone resolved this?

Signal Version 5.46.6 for me.

Seems @xeals has abandoned this project. Hasn't been updated in years.

There are a few Signal backup file decryption projects; this one seems to be ongoing: https://github.com/GjjvdBurg/signal2html
Looks like recent changes in Signal have broken things, but dev seems interested in updating: GjjvdBurg/signal2html#70 (comment)

Thanks for the tip, it worked for me with Signal 6.29.2.
