Which all module systems does yeoman-generator@5.8.0 supports?

I am using CLI: yo@4.3.1 with yeoman-generator@5.8.0.
Generator is written in TS. When I try to change module system from commonjs to ES2020. It throws following error:

Cannot use import statement outside a module
